Ankle Sprain
Sprained ankles are one of the most common injuries that occur in sports. A sprain is caused by the stretching or tearing of small ligaments around the ankle bones. The most common type of ankle sprain is when weight is applied to the foot on an uneven surface, causing the foot to roll inward (inversion).
Ankle Stretches
Physical therapy can assist in the recovery process after an ankle sprain through manual techniques to reduce or eliminate swelling and restore normal motion or joint mobility. The necessary period of rest directly after an ankle sprain can leave the muscle feeling tight, and less flexible. Ankle stretches assist in gaining back muscle mobility post ankle sprain.
